Yours Truly- Is proud to be starting a new chapter with our new single ‘Composure’

Interview conducted on April 22, 2020

By Dan Locke

Dan Locke: How did you guys meet?

Teddie: We all met through Facebook and going to local shows.

How did you form the band?

We started jamming a few songs together, got along really well, and just became best friends straight away through playing music, which lead to us forming the band.

How did you get your name?

We tossed around a few ideas then Teddie just sent the idea of ‘Yours Truly’ to our group chat and it just stuck from there.

What was your first gig?

Our first gig was with ‘In Stereo’ at The Lair in Sydney.

Do you think of your band as punk or pop. Tell me why?

We like to think we can be a good mix of the two because we take elements from both genres and then put our own spin on them.

Do you get mistaken sometime for the American Hardcore punk band Yours Truly?

Can’t say we ever have.

You played the Download Festival. How was London?

Download Festival was our first overseas show and was an incredible mind-blowing experience for all of us. London was awesome. We were fortunate enough to be opening up for State Champs and to see that we had people on the other side of the world singing along was really one of the best feelings you could have.

Last year you did your first US tour. How was the tour? What was your favorite stop?

The tour was a blast! We had such a great time finally getting to play in America. My personal favorite stop was at Chain Reaction in Anaheim.

How was Riot Fest?

It was such a surreal feeling being there alongside so many amazing artists that we had been looking up to for years and was just incredible to be a part of it all.

How do you compare touring in the US to Australia?

The biggest difference was it was a lot longer but the drives between each city weren’t quite as bad as they are in Aus.

After all the touring you have done. You should have learned a lot about the music business. What five things could you tell a new band about touring?

Pack light, bring as many extra strings/drumsticks/cables as you can fit, enjoy spending the time with your friends, relax, and just enjoy getting to play every night.

Tell me how MOSH Mental Health fest is good for the music community?

Mosh Mental Health is great for the music community because its raising awareness for a charitable cause whilst supporting local acts and brings everyone together in a safe space

How do you see yourself this upcoming year?

Working super hard on what we have planned next.
