On the 28th of December 2019, Detroit local band Wilson gave its last show at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, Michigan where everything started almost 10 years ago. The reason why the band split is still not very clear to this day. Citing other projects, spending more time with their loved ones, and moving away, the Wilson guys are still good friends but somewhere else in their lives individually.
Well known for being party animals, they decided to throw one more big party surrounded by family and friends. After announcing their ‘’break up’’, the band let the fans know that the final party would be at the end of December in their hometown, Detroit. Chad Nicefield (vocals) admitted being very surprised that the 1200 tickets got sold out in a couple of weeks. Not only that, tickets were bought from people all over the United States and also all over the world! Fans from the UK, Germany, and Sweden bought tickets and flights to sing along with the band one more time. We have to mention that the guys from Wilson were also the favorites on the rock concert cruise ‘’Shiprocked’’ which connects music lovers from all around the world every year.
This last live album wasn’t planned at all. The guys wanted to record it just to keep it as a souvenir and good memories from their last big performance altogether. A couple of months later, one of their Sound Engineers sent Chad a live mix of their last performance of ‘’Dumptruck’’ and it forced him to realize that all the fans who shared this last moment with them and the others who couldn’t be there, needed their own copy.
“Thank You, Good Night” is a live album… 40 minutes of pure party. Ten of their biggest hits or songs that the band liked to play the most at concerts and festivals. The best of their 3 albums on one live performance….on an album! Chad is guiding us with band stories and memories between the songs and you can hear the crowd singing along with him. If you are a Wilson fan you need this album to complete your collection but also because the performance was one of their best. Knowing it was their last one as an official band, you can hear that the guys gave everything they had and enjoyed the stage like never before.
If you don’t know Wilson, you also need this album for your parties, workout sessions or just to cheer you up with their crazy beats and funny lyrics. But I have to warn you, you will probably be upset to realize that it was their last album and Wilson is not ‘’a thing’’ anymore.
Album available on all DSP on January 29th, 2021.
