Vbae was happy to record her answers so you can her them in her own words.
Victoria Peredetto, professionally known as Vbae, will release her next single “Drugz” on Friday April 10th. Accompanied by a high-production music video, “Drugz” emits a sensually empowered attitude that’s bound to resonate with fans. Born in Boston, MA, Vbae has been in the limelight since the age of 14. With beginnings as both a model and actress, her beloved fanbase would agree that her transition to the world of music was no less than organic. “I started out writing R&B lyrics about love and not really expressing myself the way I wanted to,” she says. Writing about her emotions caused things to click and combining her newly found creativity with her experience in entertainment directed her to Hip Hop, where it’s safe to say she flows naturally.
Dan Locke: What is your upbringing?
Vbae: I’m from Boston – shout out Boston, Patriots and Red Socks! I’m all about that baby. My dad, you know he wasn’t really there so my mom had to work a lot. Thank god for my grandparents because if they weren’t there….I don’t even know.
How did you discover music?
Basically, just slidin with my mom and my dad. They were divorced but my mom was all about alternative and my dad was about rap and R&B and yeah…I just caught a vibe instantly when I was like mad young.
How did you start to write music?
So basically, I wrote poetry when I was younger and I didn’t do anything with it…it was just like me writing my feelings and emotions and… yeah.
How did you pick your name?
Vbae is an acronym. It stands for Victoria Before Anyone Else. And that is not a selfish thing. It’s just because for a while I put a lot of people before myself and a lot of things. And right now, it’s about me and what I need to get done moving forward.
How did you decide to become a passionate vegan?
I became a passionate vegan because I just wanted to be more aware of what I was putting in my body. This was like a year and a half ago. And I have Dom energy and I feel great.
What is your favorite meal to make? And how do you make it?
Vegan Lasagna!! It’s my favorite, oh my god I love it. I can tell ya’ll a little bit but not a lot…you know. 🙂 You gotta start off with an Italian sauce because if you don’t know how to make a true Italian pasta sauce then you’re just out the door baby…you need lasagna noodles, you need cashews. And the cashews are for the ricotta and then you know you season that up a little bit…put it in the oven and boom boom boom and then you don’t baby you go you got lasagna!
Is your video “Difference”, based on a true story?
Um, “Difference” is more of a ‘statement’ video. Just basically letting everybody know that I’m not gonna do all these weird freaky things just for a little money and fame like, you gotta wait your turn boo. Everything comes when it’s supposed to.
Tell me about latest next single “Drugz” came out April 10th?
“Drugz” is one of my more intimate song. Um, I had a great time with the production. Shout out Tazer Boy, he shot it. Maze production the beat. Daniel mixed and mastered it…shout out Iconic Vision studios. We had a great time with this though…I’m excited for the next one.
On your video channel, you have 2 video playlists. Video edits and hair. Why is that?
Honestly, I don’t even know why I have that. So, I don’t wanna even like lie to ya’ll…
How do you go about creating a piece of music?
I go in my garage; I roll a blunt and then I put a beat on. No but for real, that’s usually what I end up doing.
What is you’re feeling about streaming music?
I grew up with a lot of people that like…you know a lot of the old school people who had to be on foot handing out CD’s and I feel like streaming now for our generation is a good thing because it gives people now a way to generate money…especially independent artists because you know, it’s tough out there.
Digital vs. vinyl?
Vinyl because it’s close to my heart!
Any plans to tour?
Yes definitely.
What song from the past is in your mind right now? And what is the meaning that song mean to you?
“T shirt and my panties on”…because you know that’s on my playlist. It’s a song that I get ready to.
You have been an actress and model also. What have you been in or what ads can we see you on?
You can catch me in the Vanilla Sprite video, shout out Forgiato Blow, shout out Rick Ross. I think that bitch has like over a million views now. You can also catch me in the YNW Melly x Tank Bank “Call of Duty”…I’m in that one. That shit was fun as fuck too. Shout out “Soon To Be Rich Films”. Yeah, a couple of low budget movies like…”My Life Is A Movie”. That shit was gang too…I played a drug dealer but you know, we ain’t gonna do that shit right now haha.
How do you feel the Covid-19 virus going to affect the music business in the future?
I feel like the COVID-19 virus will affect the music industry and the future in a positive way because everything’s doing everything online now. And it’s all about streaming and it’s all about connecting with people whether it’s in groups…. I think it’ll be a good thing!
Lots of people are doing nightly concerts over either YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Are you planning to do something like that?
Um, I haven’t even looked into that actually so that’s definitely something I’m gonna look into.
How do you see yourself in the next five years?
Way more established then I am now. But for real though, way more festivals, concerts, shows, videos, features…all that.
