Tonight, at the Rochaus in downtown West Dundee IL just outside of Chicago IL will be probably the last show for me in a while since earlier in the evening all events in Illinois have been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak around the world. Beast Blanco is on tour in support of the “We Are” album. Beasto Blanco was formed in 2012 by Vocalist Chuck Garric and Guitarist Chris Latham. Alice Cooper bassist Chuck Garric, follow up their 2016 self-titled album with their new record, We Are. Released May 2019 through Rat Pak Records, the latest album features Calico Cooper (Alice Cooper’s daughter) on vocals, ‘Brother’ Chris Latham on Guitar, Jan LeGrow on bass who couldn’t make it as he was unable to fly from Germany to the states due to travel ban caused by the coronavirus, and Sean Sellers behind the drum kit. While Chuck and Calico are busy most of the time out on tour with Alice Cooper the moment, they have time for their own band Beasto Blanco they waste no time booking shows and touring with Beasto Blanco.
Tonight’s set was full of heavy melodies, big riffs, in your face hardcore rock and roll and eye-popping theatrics. The first song in the evening was “Freak” from their Live Fast Die Loud album. Chuck hit the stage wearing an all-black ski mask to get things started. Then Chuck ripped the mask off before starting “Seeker” from their latest album was released as a single along with a music video earlier in April. This song is heavy with Chucks gravelly vocals and Brother Lathems heavy guitar sound. I must say that I totally dig Beasto Blanco’s version of “Feed My Frankenstein” and how Calico Cooper’s vocals are incorporated in this song. Calico swinging an arm around early in the show to roaming the stage with her spiked baseball bat throughout the night and whipping a lighted lasso thing around to wardrobe change, Calico just knows stage presence but then again, she learned from the best her father Alice Cooper.
They all compliment each other musically very well which is why they work and sound so well together. The band is so tight musically and they know how to put on a fucking killer live show! That stage presence and the camaraderie together make it a fun and awesome Rock show! I was glad to see Chuck Garric having fun all night playing guitar and singing like a kid. Calico Cooper on vocals all night was powerful and melodic, also her stage wears Calico makes herself which are outstanding and the range she has and the command on her voice is also outstanding. Clay who was filling in on the bass tonight for Jan LeGrow was exciting and was spot on and in the pocket keeping the drive going. Clay is the bassist for Voodoo Prophet located in Nashville TN.
The band sounded great they killed it and with all that raw energy and aggression you would expect from Beasto Blanco. Chuck and Calico are always bringing it for the Alice Cooper tours but to see them perform their own music and bring their own creative show to the stage is just lights out a fun heavy kickass rock show that needs to be seen for your own eyes so get off your asses and go see Beasto Blanco when they head to a town near you or maybe travel to another town or state nowhere near you. Long and short go see Beasto Blanco live people and after the show, you just might meet them, just saying.
