Despite his limited commercial appeal, Scarface has consistently attained wide respect from within the industry, and he has been described as “your favorite rapper’s rapper” in 2005, comedian Chris Rock praised Scarface as one of the best three rappers of all time on his list of the top- 25 Hip Hop Albums ever.
On April 6, 2024 I arrived at Royal Oak Music Theater, I went inside the theater it is completely packed out. Right then I knew it was going to be a real vibe. Mannie Fresh was on stage, he is a Grammy-nominated DJ producer and rapper from New Orleans. He was the sole in-house producer for Cash Money Records for over a decade and has continued success as an independent artist after leaving the label in 2005. He is considered one of the best Hip Hop producers. Ok, back to that night Mannie was setting the stage on fire keeping it lit for the main event the crowd was ready. Mannie Fresh had hits like “Still Fly”, “Get Your Roll On”, and “Real Big”. Mannie had a number of hits with Cash Money and Big Tymers .After he finishes he introduced the main attraction as his friend, his brother one of the best to ever do it Scarface. The live band starts playing, As you look around to see where he comes from, out of the left side he comes out and walks to the mic and greets Detroit with our saying “Wat Up Doe” . Scarface Performed hits like “Dollar”, “Mary Jane”, “Smile”, “On My Block”, “ I Seen A Man Die” he did the Geto Boys Hit “My Mind Is Playing Tricks On Me” and many more …during the show I loved how Scarface shouted out his son Christopher Jordan calling him a Hero for giving a kidney and saving his life. That is a real Hero to me that’s what you call a father son relationship The Scarface Behind The Desk Live Experience was such a vibe I can’t go without thanking Tresa Sanders, Daylan Cole and Black Promoters for bringing another On Fire show to Detroit. Keep doing it Black Promoters Collective. Long live Scarface. Salute…
