Sviet Margot are:

Tiziana Giudici: vocals

Andrea Guidi: guitars

Alessandro Galizi: bass & backing vocals

What is your upbringing?

Tiziana Giudici: I’m a geologist and an environmental expert, now I’m working in the sector of renewable energy that I think is the real future of energy!

Tiziana- How did you start singing?

I was a shy girl when I was at school, but during the university I meet a boy Alessandro Galizi that pushed me up singing, so I started to study opera and with him to compose songs; he is the composer with me of our songs since the beginning, Alessandro is the bass player of the band. Now we compose in three Alessandro (bass player) and Andrea Guidi (guitars player) and me!

Did you study Jazz and Opera?

Yes, I did. I studied opera for 8 years, then only one year of jazz.

I believe that opera has given me the voice and jazz has enriched my composer ability, going out of the box defined by classical canons.

Tell me about your time in Prophilax?

They are very ironic and nice, I sang for them in two CDs “Il quinto escremento”and”Coito ergo sum “, I also did several live concerts with them between 2002 and 2012, nice experience, they are my dear friends!

You band has been around since before 2013. How did your band form?

When I meet Alessandro Galizi and I started singing and compose songs with him, we felt a good feeling, so we decided to create a band. But it was many years ago, in fact we changed name from the beginning, and we have had the pleasure to play music with many musicians.

In 2013 we decided the current name of the band and we choose the right direction for our music.

How did you get your bands name?

Sviet means light or universein Russian, fictional universe in Ukrainian, Margot is the sexy woman of Lupine III, so we are the universe or the light of a beautiful manga woman!

Describe your music.

I think it is an original crossover of genres, from pop, to rock, to Japanese rock, to hard rock, with a bit of electronics to mix everything.

Each song expresses its own world and has its own mood, the guiding thread is the love of music, sharing with the public what we have inside our hearts and in our creative minds.

What was your first performance at like?

I was excited and a little bit scared, but I enjoyed it, every time these are my feelings

How was it to tour with The 69 Eyes?

we had just one night with them in Tallinn, I was excited because they were one of my favorite bands

Royalties never appear like magic. Royalties are only sent to you through work undertaken by a PRO to ensure that their members are getting paid. If you’re not yet signed up to a Performing Right Organization like ASCAP, BMI or SESAC, you may not be receiving all the royalties you deserve.

Do you belong to any to songwriters’ organizations like the International singer-songwriter association, SESAC, BMI or ASCAP ?

no, however, I am registered with the SIAE, which is the most important association of authors / composers in Italy and protects copyright, but yours is a good suggestion for the next future!

What makes a good songwriter?

a creative and crazy mind, knowing how to dream, knowing and wanting to fly with the imagination

What was the title of your first original song? Did you record it?

It was Watercity, I had a dream in which I lived in a city under the see, everything was it was blue, bright, and fluid, and I felt lweightless, enveloped by all that water, even remembering it relaxes.

We should all have our own wonderful underwater world where sounds are muffled, thoughts run smoothly like water, and we can feel truly protected and relaxed.me.

We recorded just a part of that song.

What is the process of writing your music?

Our songs often come from a bass or guitar loop hinted at by Alessandro and Andrea, then I push them to want to continue that loop, and in the meantime, I start creating a melody with words that appear in my head and that start to spin like petals twirling in the air in a whirlwind of wind.

The drums hook to the bass and guitar which increase the turns of the swirl of word, petals, and melody!

How has your music changed since you first LP “Spiriti di Luce”?

we have grown up, we have lived more life, we have clearer ideas of what our music wants to communicate.

that album was very spiritual, now I think we are a little less visionary and more immersed in reality

How was it to play Saint Petersburg and Moscow?

Wonderful experience, the most beautiful of my life, wonderful people … I believe that music can overcome all barriers and can unite all of us!

Tell me about your latest single “Limitless Change” from your soon to be released album “Limitless Change”?

The album will be called “All I need”.

I wrote the lyrics of limitless change in a difficult period of my life when I understood that to bear the difficulties we have to transform ourselves, create armor and accept all the changes that life brings us, they are changes without limits.

How was it to work on the video with Kinorama Studio?

they are fantastic and have been able to enhance the script I wrote for the video, indulging my visual mind

Why did it take you so long to released the video.  I saw it was in production for the last 2 years.

I don’t think it was appropriate to publish videos or songs when people in the world were dying from covid, I think it would not have been respectful.

there is a time for silence and a time to help others with your voice and your music, this is the time for the music!

What is your favorite track on your album?

“limitless change” because it describes my suffering and how I managed to fight it

You have over 100k views for your video “All I Need” you have over 100k views.  For Tales and Tales you have over 70K views. What are you’re feeling about streaming music?

it’s a powerful way to share our music with the rest of the world

The symbol # is known as the number sign, hash, pound sign and a sharp sign in music. The symbol has historically been used for a wide range of purposes Since 2007, widespread usage of the symbol to introduce metadata tags on social media platforms has led to such tags being known as “hashtags”, and from that, the symbol itself is sometimes called a hashtag.

Are people forgetting that the # is a part of music?

I’m sure that musicians know what it really is, but those who don’t make music think it’s just hashtag, Unfortunately

Digital vs. vinyl?

Digital, it’s easier to shar with the world

What song from the past is in your mind right now? Moreover, what is the meaning that song means to you?

among our songs Twister from reality, a very beautiful song that invites you to dream and hope, among other songs, Zombie for the war theme

If “Video Killed the Radio Star” do you think that the Covid-19 virus has killed live music? Do you feel the Covid-19 virus going to affect the music business in the future?

covid has changed our way of living and working, it has also changed the musical world that has moved into the digital world, but now people want to start living again. So, I think people is happier and more favorable to live music. that’s what I was able to see during our recent live done on March 4th

Do you think that Covid-19 has been a plus to an artist career?

 No, it wasn’t!

What have you been doing with your self-quarantine?

I worked a lot, but we also played in my rehearsal room, luckily I have my own studio at home !!

How do you stay healthy during the lockdown?

engaging the mind in things you enjoy

Have you discovered or rediscovered any new hobbies?

Yes, I started doing gymnastics

I see you have done some video editing (Gold Sparkles).  Are you still doing that?

I really like writing scripts and editing videos, as soon as I have more time, I am sure I will, soon!

Recently the virus has come back with the Delta outbreak, then you Omicron, which as cause many people in the industry to worry about the future of live music.

How would you like live shows to be held and still keep you  and fans safe.

I think it is enough to sit and wear masks, keeping your distance

Is pay to play still a thing?  Now pay to play also means thinks like playlist on the internet and opening slots for a major band on tour.

I think it’s a good marketing strategy to promote your music

The show Star Trek introduced people to the holodeck: an immersive, realistic 3D holographic projection of a complete environment that you could interact with.

Today holograms are already being used in a variety of way, such as medical systems, education, art, security and defense

Performers like Tupac, Michael Jackson, Roy Orbison, Frank Zappa, Elvis Presley, Amy Winehouse, Buddy Holly, Ronnie James Dio, Marylin Monroe, and Whitney Houston have done it already. The band ABBA just announced that they will be doing a comeback together after nearly 40 years as holograms on their next tour.  With ABBA it was with the help of George Lucas .

If the cost was down to the point you could do it also, would you be willing to do Holographic concerts in our living room?

Yes, why not? you must always ride the wave and accept changes without limits

In the past if a musician stop doing music they find a new career.  For example David Lee Roth from Van Halen became a  licensed EMT in NY for 6 years, San Spitz (guitarist for Anthrax) became a master watchmaker, Dee Snider (Twister Sister) voice over work for SpongeBob SquarePants.. If you can’t do music what would you like to be doing?

I work to design and build plants that respect the environment while producing energy, this I do and I this is what I like to do.

What is your happy place?

being on stage and enchanting the audience with my music

Red Hot Chili Peppers are about to sell their entire song catalog for $140 Million.  In the past year a lot of musicians such as Stevie Nicks ($100 Million) , Bob Dylan (over $400 Million), Taylor Swift, Journey, Def Leppard, K.T. Tunstall, John Legend, ZZ Top and Shakira have sold their catalog rights within the last year.  Bob Dylan sold his entire catalog for a reported $300 million.   Neil Young song 50 percent of his worldwide copyright and income interest in his 1,180 song catalogue to Hipnosis Songs Fund limited . Once you get to the age of about 70.  Publishing is far more lucrative then the mechanical royalties paid to artist based on sales, airplay and streams.  A good example of this is Michael Jackson brought the rights to the Beatles catalog in 1985.  And in the late 80’s the Beatles Revolution appeared in a Nike commercial.

The lump sums being offering by publishing firms are more tax friendly concerning estate planning.

On January 19, 2021 Hipgnosis Song Management acquired 80% of Kenny Chesney’s recorded music royalties, covering the country superstar’s discography from his 1994 debut In My Wildest Dreams through 2017’s Live in No Shoes Nation.

Someone who was totally against selling his rights was David Crosby.  He did not want to sell his publishing rights.  In addition, it was not an easy thing for him to do.  However, by making a deal with Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists Group, it took a big weight off his shoulders.  He could pay off his house and cover other bills.  Now he does not have to work for a living.  It should be noted that David is battling tendinitis in his hands, which hurts his ability to play guitar.

Do you think you would be willing to sale your back catalog if someone like Universal is will to buy everything, such as all the rights to all your songs?

 I think yes

There are many platforms out there that allow artists to get their music heard. Artist Republik, DistroKid, Tunecore& plenty others offer distribution services. These services enable independent artists to put their music on some of the most popular streaming services globally, from Spotify to Apple Music & everything in between. If you’ve been in any part of the music industry in recent years, you probably know someone that has distributed a song.

Spotify reports that in 2021 there are about 8 million artists on the platform. Of those 8 million artists, about 57,000 are raking in a whopping 90% of the total revenue from streams. That means that .71% of the artists on Spotify are making good money. In 2020, there was a total of around $5 billion paid out to artists on the Spotify platform alone.

Therefore it’s reasonable to assume that, by the end of 2021, SPOT will be home to over 90 million tracks. And that in the early part of next year, it will surpass a catalog of 100 million for the first time.

What do you think what that could mean to independent artist?

I know what it means for my band, it is an important and powerful reality that allows the artist to share their music, even where in the past it would have been impossible

Over half a billion active users around the world share their favorite music on TikTok either with something like a dance challenges and lip-sync videos or creating a funny skit or candid camera moment.

TikTok has became a great platform for music promotion, sharing songs, and finding new listeners.  In which it has become a place for music artist to earn revenue when people use their music.  Which in many cases the daily promotion on TikTok has led to hug boosts on other platforms like Spotify, Facebook and YouTube.

TikTok does this with the the algorithmically generates a feed of content for each user, which you see as the displaying of #. The more a user engages with content, the smarter TikTok gets at guessing what kind of videos the viewer wants to watch.

Because a song can go viral because of this.

Sony Music and Warner Music Group- , The ByteDance-owned video app revealed that it has struck an “expanded” global licensing agreement with Universal Music Group.  Now that TikTok is now fully licensed by all three major record companies, will you start using TikTok more?

Breaking news: TikTok is launching TikTok Radio, a full-time SiriusXM music channel going live this summer. The station will be available in vehicles and as a streaming channel on the SiriusXM App, desktop, and all connected devices.

The station will be part of a new TikTok collaboration with SiriusXM and its subsidiary,Pandora, to jointly promote emerging talent.  Do you think this platform could became a force in the future of streaming music?
