Lucas Oil Stadium

After previously coming to Gainbridge Fieldhouse last year and ultimately selling it out, today was quite a show with a sellout as well but a MUCH larger capacity. There was a lot of time before she came on with the two openers, “Sheryl Crow” and “The Script” and their DJ “Kid Cut Up,” who, funnily enough, was the same DJ as last year.

The show had a wonderful ambiance and an incredibly massive and long stage. The stage was like a vast anchor lying flat on the group, and there was so much walkway for Pink and her crew to travel on. Pretty much every demographic was covered, from moms to little kids to teenagers, high schoolers, and college kids, but definitely a very female-leaning audience. Lucas Oil is a wonderful and massive stadium, so there’s much to say about it. Nevertheless, it was a very excellent experience.

The show began with “The Script,” who did his thing and warmed up the crowd. He was pretty good, with a great voice and good energy, and what I liked was how he used the entire stage even though he was just an opener. He got up and close to some of the fans after he walked around the anchor stage and more. When I said he walked every part of the stage, I meant it; he really covered almost every square inch of the stage, which was pretty cool. His Irish accent was also very contrasty to his singing, so when he did his little speaking portions, it was pretty cool to hear his voice come out in that way. After his short set and more people started filling, “Sheryl Crow” came on. She was a massive artist back in the day when she was younger, so there were a ton of fans in the crowd. For her age, she was a trooper, and her performance was awesome; from the energy, the vibes, and more, she was so fun to hear live. She didn’t roam around the stage mainly because she was playing the guitar and singing simultaneously, which definitely makes sense, but she did play live the whole, which was awesome! She even switched to the harmonica and sang as she played it, which I didn’t think was possible but still very cool. It was such a good time, and the stadium had great vibes.

After running a little late, around 9 pm, P! nk finally came on, and wow, it was a blast. After seeing her last year, I didn’t expect much more, but this was so incredible, and she killed it the whole time. As you may know, I am a sucker for production, and the amount of work that went into this was incredible. There were backup dancers, people riding around on scooters, a live band, people in costumes, fire, backup singers, and more. The amount of thought, creativity, and ingenuity that went into this was huge, and I know she has an incredible team behind all this.

One of the most incredible things, and not something I’ve seen practically anybody do, was the whole flying through the stadium act. First, the fact that she’s usually singing while flying through the arena is wild, and then not only that, she’s singing while flying UPSIDE DOWN, which is EVEN crazier. The show started with her so high up in the air, jumping down with a cold spark explosion behind her, which rocked the crowd and immediately got everyone hyped.

There were so many different scenes to this, too, with crowd work, dancing, slow moments, crowd interaction, and more. Overall, it was an enjoyable and relaxed experience, and you could tell the stadium had so much fun. One section I liked was when she brought out her kid and talked to her about a whole candy, even asking her if she wanted her to do a Fortnite dance, which I thought was funny. That resonated well with some of the younger fans in the audience. I even saw a dad pick up his little girl; she giggled when she said that.

After a mix of crowdwork and general silliness, she brought out the flames for “Just Like Fire. ” This is an absolutely incredible song, and the fire added so much depth to it. When I tell you she really brought out the heat, I mean it. It seemed like the entire stadium rose about 10 degrees. I love fire so much, so that was one of the best moments of the show.

The finale, though, was on another level. She did her acrobatics and flew through the entire arena while “So What” was playing, one of the biggest songs of her whole career. It was just amazing to see, not to mention how cool she looked while doing it. I couldn’t even imagine how scary it is to be that high up in the air and just flying around.

This was a magical show with a perfect environment, incredible production, and more. Pink is a tremendous artist and seeing her perform this well in this environment was amazing. She has quite a few more shows on tour, so be sure to check her out!
