How did you discover music?
Joey Factor: I was born with music in the blood; I have pictures of me on stage front and center at 4 years old with a mic in hand. I don’t remember not loving music. LOL
How did you start to write music?
Started as poetry at a young age then organically turned into song writing.
What was your first performance at like?
I imagine terrible… LOL
Your band believes so much for the love of music that you bring in some old friends, as well as fresh blood together. Therefore, that means if you play a show you tell these people to stay and watch the other bands play.
Because so many times, bands will play a show and right after they play would leave.
We always do our best to support the acts we play with.
What was the title of your first original song? Did you record it?
Anymore & yes, a recording of that is floating around in the. LOLH
Why did you start the band?
Actually, my special needs daughter told me one day that I need to go show the world what I got again and it got the wheels turning.
How the band did get its name?
This goes with the last question, when I walked out of her room, I said what a New Dilemma and the name was born!
Tell me about your new EP “Is Your Story Over”, which came out June 26th?
Recorded at Reverse 13 studios with Ben Johnson then mastered by Legendary producer Gene “Machine” Freeman. This is all about personal experience and moments in time and finding light in the darkness.
Why did you choose that title?
We wanted it to be a statement as in get up and keep writing the next chapter of your story.
What is your favorite track on the album?
For me it is bury my demons because that’s a song I am still living every day.
How do you stay healthy while touring?
Healthy food and exercise, the road can be brutal if you don’t take care of yourself.
What are you feeling about streaming music?
While not as lucrative it’s a great way to get your music in front of many people quickly, it carries a ton of value just in a different way.
What song from the past is in your mind right now? Moreover, what is the meaning that song means to you?
F.E.A.R by Papa Roach, it reminds me to keep pressing forward and face challenges head on.
How do you feel the Covid-19 virus going to affect the music business in the future?
Really hard to say honestly.
What have you been doing with your self-quarantine?
Mostly writing and typing up these interviews. LOL
Many people are doing nightly concerts over either YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. What are you planning to do?
We have some things in the works but nothing we can disclose yet.
Do you think it will be possible to make a living doing concerts this way?
Who knows at this point…?
This week Live Nation announced their first ever U.S. drive-in concert series — LIVE FROM THE DRIVE-IN — This will bring fans a live music tailgating experience unlike any other, kicking off July 10-12 in Indianapolis, IN, Nashville, TN, and St. Louis, MO. Brad Paisley will headline performances in all three cities, marking the start of a much anticipated return to in person live events. Darius Rucker and Jon Pardi will also headline the series. Is this something you would be willing to do?
Would just depend on the safety of the event, right now our fans staying safe is #1 priority.
With Social Distance being the norm. Do you feel that it maybe the end of music fest for the next couple of years?
It is sure looking that way.
What about Holographic concerts in our living room?
That will cost way more than most bands have to spend I am sure! LOL
How do you see yourself in the next five years?
Hopefully touring the world!
