To start many people don’t know your names. Can you tell our readers your name and a little bit about yourselves?
I’m Carla Elmaine A. Borres , 16 years old
Loves to read stories and compose songs and a stress reliever and stress maker -mama.
Your mother is a big supporter in your lives. What is your upbringing?
I grew up relocating from one house to another every 2 to 3 years, never really get to play outside with my neighbors or have a trip with my family. Both of my parents prioritize work than having fun.
How did you discover music and dance?
At a very young age, probably 2 years old
My dad works abroad so every time he comes home from work, he likes to celebrate it by singing in karaoke, invite friends, and eating chips while they’re singing my siblings and I jam with it. I started singing and dancing at school until my mom sees potential in me so she decided to enroll me in a voice lesson and sooner or later my coach just ask me to join the dance group and so I did.
How do you pick your music for your videos?
In singing I like something melodic but if were talking about dancing the beat must be like the song where is the love by the black-eyed peas vibe.
What was your first performance at like?
My first performance was at school I sang dance with my father, it was a great and funny experience cause I didn’t practice my song and I just focus in my studies not minding the competition and the day have finally came and I didn’t bring home the bacon but for me joining the contest is the best award I ever have.
I didn’t get nervous in my first performance in dancing, it just went naturally but performing a stunt is making me feel anxious.
What makes a good dance routine?
When you love what you’re doing, dancing without passion is like a body without a soul, so that’s basically a dead person.
Who helps you with your choreography?
Coach Michelle Castañero a.k.a Britchy-britch El Castaneros
How do you stay healthy while performing?
By not getting stress at school, eat foods and stay hydrated.
How is the mental health situation of the Philippines?
It’s okay I guess, Filipino parents doesn’t give awareness in mental health especially to the teenagers, they think it’s a stupid thing that we only made up and some Filipinos are really toxic that, to the point, they body shame you, they disgust you if you have dark skin so they use whitening product, so beauty standards here is the pointy nose, white skin, petite basically being “perfect”, they judge you too even though they didn’t study law and lastly having a government that is corrupt, so I think the mental health situation of the Philippines is okay.
The COVID-19 pandemic in Central Visayas is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus reached Central Visayas on February 5, 2020, when the first case of the disease was confirmed in Bohol. As of October 11, 2020, there have been 22,671 cases in Central Visayas with 1,274 deaths and 20,389 recoveries.[1] Cebu City, which has 10,038 confirmed cases, has registered 675 deaths and 9,013 recoveries. And early this week you had flooding problems. What is it like in Lapu-Lapu City now with the lockdown?
I have been isolated at the house everyday even the lockdown hasn’t started. My everyday life in Lapu-Lapu is from house, school, house and school and repeat, sometimes go to a contest or guesting but the rest of the week is house and school, house and school.
Flooding problems? Maybe because of the heavy rain and a broken water drainage, instead of removing the excess water from the ground it rises up.
On March 13, the mayors of Cebu City, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu suspended classes in all levels for both private and public schools as a preventive measure against the spread of the virus. The suspension of classes in Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu was scheduled until March 28. Schools, however, were required to implement distance education measures. On March 15, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn
Do you think kids should go back to school?
Well at first it was fine going back to school but in a virtual way of course but the government keeps giving all of the students a lot of module and I heard one of the students committed suicide because the professor doesn’t accept late assignments and he was just late probably before 1 minute, that’s harsh though.
What song from the past is in your mind right now?
I won’t last a day without you by the carpenters
Moreover, what is the meaning that song means to you?
It just fit so perfect in my life and the society that I lived in and I won’t last a day without our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
How do you feel the Covid-19 virus going to affect the entertainment business in the future?
If ever I get to have the bond with the people in the entertainment business, I would probably and will miss them and get sad about Covid-19 trying to ruin everything.
What have you been doing with your self-quarantine?
I get to spend time baking with my mom.
I see you use Tik Tok a lot for your social media. Why not use Twitch, Instagram or Facebook?
I do use Facebook and Instagram sometimes, I don’t know what’s Twitch though
With Tik Tok maybe going away in the United States because of security issues. Do you think this will affect your ability to connect with your fans in the United States?
It is very flattering for me to have fans especially in the United States, I don’t think it affects my ability to connect with my fans🤭
They are so many ways to interact with them, maybe do some Facebook / Instagram live or maybe create a YouTube channel for my fans to know that I am updating them from time to time.
Have you discovered or rediscovered any new hobbies?
I did discovered baking and I also stop dancing this quarantine
On May 05 the Philippine government agency ordered the country’s leading broadcast network (ABS-CBN), which the president has targeted for its critical news coverage, to halt operations after its congressional franchise expired, sparking shock over the loss of a major news provider during the coronavirus pandemic. Do you miss it?
I don’t really use television at home but I did some research why our president did it.
95% of people said that they have changed the way they watch television. This includes people who don’t have television and using their computers to do streaming of programs and movies. Which is your favorite streaming channel?
I also do not stream any channels at any programs or movie.
Would you like to be doing Holographic dance shows so you could be dancing right into people living rooms?
Ya sure I never have done any Holographic so maybe it’ll be a great experience.
Anything you would like to say in closing.
I had so much fun answering the questions and would like to be part of your entertainment.
