Elvis Costello & The Imposters, accompanied by guitarist Charlie Sexton, delivered a captivating performance at Ravinia. The open-air venue in Highland Park, IL was filled with fans of all ages, creating an electric atmosphere from the start. Costello, ever the charismatic showman, seamlessly blended his unique vocal style with masterful guitar work, backed by the impeccable rhythm section of The Imposters.
The set list was a mix of classics and deep cuts, kicking off with a rousing rendition of “Pump It Up” that had the crowd on their feet. Highlights included a soulful “Alison” and an energetic “Everyday I Write the Book,” both showcasing Costello’s lyrical genius and the band’s tight musicianship. Sexton’s guitar solos added a fresh, bluesy edge to the performance, particularly shining on “Watching the Detectives.”
