Daniel Locke: How is the music scene in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
Lindy – The music scene in MPLS is thriving, there is a variety of genres, and always shows going on. The scene is supportive.
How were you discovered?
Jake – I don’t think there was really one moment of discovery. It’s taken years of hard work and building up the name, putting out lots of content, touring, etc.
How did you get together with Pavement Records?
Jake – A manager we were working with at the time brought our disc to a Soil show where Tim King was playing bass. He showed him the disc and Tim had heard of us before and we just started talking and they wanted to work with us. A L P H A B I O N I C is our 2nd album released with Pavement.
What bands have you supported in the past?
Jake – So many great bands over the years. In This Moment, Lords of Acid, Orgy, Filter, Combichrist, Mushroomhead, Wednesday 13, American Head Charge, and many others.
Your album will be released on April 12, are you excited about it coming out?
Jake – Yes the album was just released on the 12th, we are very excited!
Tell me about “Alpha Bionic”?
Lindy – Lyrically it is based 50 years into the future where I see humanity becoming more robotic as a human race due to overuse of technology. Blending DNA with technology.
Jake – Musically it is electronic, groovy, beautiful, and aggressive.
Would you like to make Alpha Bionic into a movie?
Lindy – It could be, there is a theme to work with there.
Who would star in it?
Lindy – lol I don’t know. Maybe like Keanu Reeves.
How long have you been working on it?
Jake – The whole process took about a year from start to finish. There was a big tour in the middle of writing the record so there was some time where we weren’t doing much but as soon as we got home last summer we went right back to it.
What is the best track on the release?
Lindy – They are all special, I can’t really decide
Jake – A few of my favorites are Electro-Mechanical, Sonic Bionic, and Transcend
Is this tour taking you to new markets you have not done before?
Jake – We have been to most of the markets on the Pretty In Kink tour with Lords of Acid. There were a few new places for us.
Do you feel that your fans are missing something by downloading your music instead of buying a cd?
Lindy – Yes because with every record our artwork is connected to the music so you aren’t getting the full experience and meaning of that record. They go hand in hand.
I see you are going to play two music fest I never heard of before. Music Fights Back Music Festival and Michigan Metal Fest. Tell me about them? Why did you pick them as part of your tour?
Jake – They are our first times at these festivals, we look forward to them. Michigan Metal fest will be a lot of heavier bands. We are also playing Rock Fest, and Midwest Metal Metal Massacre 2.
How do you see yourself in five years?
Jake – We are kind of focusing on the next year at the moment and hope that our new album goes well, we have some tours in the works.
Anything in closing?
Lindy – Our new album A L P H A B I O N I C is available now and thank you for your support! www.gabrielandtheapocalypse.com
