Empowered Female Fronted Bands Slays in Rockford’

With chaos happening daily in society, it is time for all of us to come together and show support for one another. #MeToo Movement has made major headlines as of recent and the rise of female empowerment is stronger than ever.
I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to photograph a few female fronted bands I had on my

list for a while now. I happen to believe in women being strong and beautiful all at the same time. Why be pressured in being weak and not standing up for yourself? That is why I was proud to witness New Years Day, In This Moment and Halestorm perform on Wednesday May 16th, 2018 in Rockford, Illinois.
I am always in aww of any big-name concert I get to be apart of. To me, this was an incredible line up! New Years Day started the night with their chilling metal rock sound with Ashley Costello leading the pack. Her look is mesmerizing with almost Cruella DeVelle hair with one side being black and the other side being red. Her vocals are haunting with a hint of growls coming through. New Years Day is band on the verge of being everywhere very soon!!!! Keep a watch out for them.

While watching In This Moment, you feel like it is an art show in motion. Maria Brink does a lot of costume changes; however, it adds to the atmosphere for each song she is performing. I noticed Maria does hide behind her hair. Yet, she sings with such power it just adds to her mystery. Maria only had one dancer on her side that night. Maria and her dancer were very in sync with each other. I loved hearing “Sex Metal Barbie,” “Big Bad Wolf’ and the closer “Whore…” Each lighting change brought more depth to the performance. Overall, In This Moment could do no wrong.
I have been a huge fan of Halestorm for a long time. I love Lzzy as an all-around bad ass chick with her phenomenal vocals and her guitar riffs. She reminds me of Joan Jett with her leather pants and fringe jacket. Lzzy is all power. She stands with determination and a will to rock your world with her performance. I loved hearing “Mayham”, “Love Bites, and “Freak Like Me” live. Halestorm is the embodiment of a true rock band. Plus, seeing my favorite drummer AreJay made me smile ear to ear. He fantastic to watch and always entertaining. AreJay is for sure a force within the music industry with his skills. Take note kids. This is what you should model yourself after!!!!
It was an overall great performance by all and I am hoping this tour is the start of more female fronted bands coming together for a purpose of being strong together!!!!! I know I will be there.
