It was a beautiful afternoon though hot and humid. Though the sun was shining, dark clouds were southward. The band came on stage and started with “Rockin’ Down the Highway”. The sound was perfect. The audience was ready to rock. Patrick Simmons played some tasty solos on his hot pink guitar. A great way to start the show.
- “Road Angel” – The sun broke out during this song and the three guitarists shined. Double guitar solos really fill out this song. I loved it! The congas complimented the drums and added that little extra for the crowd to dance to.
- “South City Midnight Lady” – If you love pedal steel, you will love this song. John McFee made it look so easy. The vocal harmonies were perfect and Marc Russo’s saxophone solo was oh so smooth. This is just a terrific song.
- Dark Eyed Cajun Woman” had nice bluesy guitar licks made you want to play air guitar.
- “Jesus Is Just Alright” got the people moving. Dancing and singing broke out everywhere.
- Billy Payne rocked the keyboards on “Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While)”.
- “Eyes of Silver” and “World Gone Crazy” (fun tune).
- “Takin’ It to the Streets” – Everyone was waiting for this one and sang loudly.
- “The Doctor” had the “sea” of people dancing.
- Everyone seemed to know “Black Water” and “Long Train Running”.
- “China Grove” and “Listen to the Music” were the encore. What a way to end the show!
This was one of the best shows I have ever seen! Kudos go to the sound crew. They did a fabulous job. The mix was perfect – crystal clear sound and the volume was perfect for the venue. Go see this show!
