LINCOLN HALL Chicago IL, USA FEB 27 2020

Lincoln Hall Chicago gets a special a rare opportunity tonight to see them perform stripped-down versions of some of their classic songs.
As the brothers stepped out on stage the crowd erupted with cheers and applause.
The night kicked off with one of the Black Crows greatest hits “Jealous Again,” as the first song of the night. Every time I hear Jealous Again it brings me back to when I saw them open up for Aerosmith at Alpine Valley in 1990, now those were the days. Few songs down the road for the first time on this mini-tour the brothers played “Under a Mountain “ which was amazing to hear, Chris explaining that when driving down together Rich wanted to play that song and Chris was all aboard on it. Up next was “Oh Josephine,” off 2008’s Warpaint which was a treat as that song just kills. All night the Brothers sounded great Chris’s singing is still top-notch. I love his soulful vibe and Rich played guitar flawlessly as usual. Chris and Rich seem to have everything going right for them currently, I really hope they keep it up and it will last because these brothers together make each other better.
They had some harmonies that worked out well tonight. Overall playing stripped-down sounded better than I expected, I know and love their music, I know they are crazy talented but sometimes nights just don’t go well at times but they were impressive tonight. Chris was energetic in a great mood all night. Rich was a bit reserved and quieter as usual. The fans were more than perfect showing their love and appreciation towards the brothers.
I’m usually easily inspired when I listen to the Black Crows or in this case Brothers of a Feather, grabbing the guitar when you get home because something struck or hit you a certain way that gives you new ideas always is a good thing.
The day the reunion was announced, the Robinsons went on Howard Stern’s radio show and Chris accepted his share of the blame. “I said some horrible things,” he noted. “I was in a negative place, but you know what? I’ve apologized to Rich about that. A lot of things have changed for me in the last two years. I was in a relationship that was failing. I was in a negative place. I was dealing with depression. And I’m sitting over here, like, ‘Why am I saying bad things about my brother?'”
This promotional run coincides with the 30th anniversary of the release of the band’s quintuple platinum debut album, Shake Your Money Maker which was released on February 13, 1990.
The band will be celebrating the release of that album with a sprawling 47-date tour this summer, playing the album in its entirety as well as all of the other hits that have made the band one of the best-loved, and most enduring, in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. The Black Crowes ‘Shake Your Money Maker’ World Tour is coming to a town near you go check them out.
