January 29, 2023, at the Chicago Radius. A day that brings be back to my Teen years. When 80 thrash
metal was alive. Exodus, Black Label society and Anthrax.
Exodus, opening with songs like Blood in, Blood out, Piranha, Bounded by Blood and of course The Toxic Waltz moshing was alive and well at the radius that night. Next up Black Label Society. The Doom Crew made themselves know as they sang out.
Funeral Bell, Heart of Darkness a tribute to Dimebag Darryl with( In This River) and finishing strong with
a guitar solo with songs like (Fire it up) and crowd favorites Suicide Messiah and Stillborn. I couldn’t stop
myself singing.
Then Anthrax took the stage and the crowd let loose. They did not waste time starting the night off with
Among the living, right into Caught In a Mosh. The crowd was singing body surfing and just plain happy
to be among crowd to rejoice as we were all Keeping it in the family . A reunion that knocks your sox off.
They pulled out all stops not missing a beat, wishing a speedy recover to their drummer Charlie Benante
who was out due to an illness.
Derek Roddy who filled in killed it. They also did their tribute to Dimebag
Darryl playing (in The End) off the For King Album. The even played covers of Joe Jackson’s Got the Time
and Public Enemies Bring the noise, and the ever popular (Antisocial) cover by Trust. I think if you ever
been to a Anthrax it seems all this fun just explodes when they get to end and play Indians. I couldn’t
help but sing and jump up and down. All lovers of thrash this is your show! Do not miss it.
