Thursday night 10/19/23 Ann Wilson of Heart brought her solo tour with her band Tripsitter to the Vic Theater. She started the night with Even in up. The crowd quickly jumped to their feet and started singing. It’s hard to believe that the classic hit was written in 1979. Her voice is unique with its deep raspy tone. It was a pleasure to hear her work through her setlist.
She combined new, old, and covers in an appeasing to the ears set. So often, you go to shows to hear those songs you grew up with and get an earful of music you don’t even know. She did the new and the old justice. Another Door dropped in September if you haven’t had a chance to listen to it you are doing yourself a disservice. Ann shows great skill as a song writer. She mentioned a lot that music was an outlet during covid. Ruler of the night has a great 70’s feel, with rock riffs, her awesome voice and flute influences. Rain hell has a unique sound as it is powerful because of Ann’s vocals but you can hear those sexy guitar riffs. It gives a classic feel to a modern song.
She had me smiling and singing to the classics Magic Man, Alone, Straight on you, Crazy for You, and of course, ending the night with Barracuda. Some of the notable covers was John Lennon’s Isolation, The Who’s Love Reign, and of course Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant song and Going to California. She also covered David Bowies Lets Dance. The Couple in front of me never sat down. This is a show you don’t want to miss.
