As everyone knows, this past year has been incredibly difficult and LONG…longer than most, by far.  The battle of COVID has left nobody unscathed in 2020 and even continuing into 2021, resulting in people dealing with a myriad of life’s issues, some more serious than others.  And, even in celebratory times, the year 2020 (early 2021) managed to put a damper on all things deserving of celebrations as well as the accolades, the kudos, and fun that accompany them.  You know what I mean…I am talking about the graduations, the golden birthdays, the milestone wedding anniversaries, the births of children/grandchildren, etc.  These are the moments in which we all want to come together to cheer, to hug, or just to pat one another on the back and say, “Congrats!”   And, along with millions of others, you know who else missed out on some celebratory kudos and accolades?  The band 3 Doors Down because technically, it was in 2020 when the band should have actually been able to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their multi-platinum debut album, The Better Life

However, luckily (and thankfully) for a few thousand ticket holders at Live Nation’s Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, on August 5th, it became all too apparent that not all celebrations should go into some long, lost void just because they might be slightly delayed…even if for a full year. So, on August 5th, the band 3 Doors Down rolled into town and performed their (technically) twenty-one year old The Better Life album in its entirety.  Even though it seemed as though no time had passed since the band belted out their wildly known anthems, such as “Kryptonite,” it was most definitely their night to celebrate and every single fan under those warm summer stars were able to celebrate with them, screaming their respective, “CONGRATULATIONS,” and singing word-for-word all of their favorite songs from the beloved album. And, believe me, those sentiments had to have been heard for miles.

Joining 3 Doors Down and opening up the night of celebration was South African band, Seether. One of my personal favorites from years past, the band is known for their ballads, “Broken,” and “Let you Down,” but on this particular night they received massive appreciation from the audience for their heavier tunes, such as, “Bruised and Bloodied,” and “Remedy,” both of which literally had the ground shaking on that perfectly warm summer evening. It was glorious!

It should be noted that on October 15th, yet another celebration should be in order, as that is the date in which Seether will release their entire career-spanning collection of music entitled, Vicennial – 2 Decades of Seether. The upcoming release has the internet in a tizzy (in a good way), anticipating all of those hits from the past, including their cover of Wham’s A Careless Whisper.

Regardless, if you were unable to catch this leg of the 20th Anniversary Tour in Tinley Park, IL, don’t “fret,” because the band is still planning on rolling into various cities around the country until October 16th.
